I had my foot/toe crushed playing soccer a month ago. My big toe nail turn black and blue (I guess blood under the toe nail). I thought the toenail would have fallen off but it seems now as normal s con be, but it is still black and blue underneath the toe nail. Is there an old wise tail to get rid of that? I don't even like to wear sandles because it looks rather nasty... but it feels fine.Dis-colored toe nail?
The same thing happened to my toddler gaughter. I don['t know what happened to the nail, she never seemed to complain, but I noticed when clipping her nails. The top nail seemed to be loose, but a new one was growing underneath. I just kept an eye on it and it eventually fell off, leaving the new nail underneath.Dis-colored toe nail?
ouch, well your nail is supposed to fall off when it's been traumatized like that....sometimes it just takes a lil pull and it'll fall off....there should be a new nail growing underneath. I've heard if you squeeze lemmon juice under the nail it's supposed to get rid of the blood...try it....
If the nail hasn't fallen off yet, it's likely you won't lose it. That black color comes from old blood trapped in there. I've tried scraping a tiny portion of the nail a bit with a scalpel to let that old blood drain, but if it's been a month, you might just want to leave it like that. What will happen is a new nail will grow over the old one, and you'll need to slowly start trimming the old one to let the other one grow. And keep an eye on it, bruised nails are a perfect enviroment for fungus to grow.
I used to have one of those. It will eventually fall off. It's just a dead toenail. It takes a while for a new nail to grow. Think of it as... a loose tooth...on your foot. lol. Anyway, it's normal.
It will probably fall off eventually but not until another nail grows in under it. I dropped a board on my big toe last October and the nail came off just a few weeks ago. There was a perfectly good nail under the one that came off.

Until your appointment soak your sore toe in warm water for 15 minutes 2 to 3 times each day, and wear comfortable shoes or sandals that do not press on your toe.
Your doctor can treat an ingrown toenail by trimming or removing the ingrown portion of your nail to help relieve pain. Before this procedure, your doctor numbs your toe by injecting it with an anesthetic. JUST MAKE SURE HE/SHE KNOWS THAT YOU WANT TO FEEL AS LITTLE DICOMFORT AS POSSIBLE!
After Surgery it will take several weeks before the tissues are healed. You will probably wear a bandage or dressing for about a week following the procedure. Your surgeon may recommend soaking the toe in warm salt water each day for the first week after surgery. Your doctor may also recommend using topical or oral antibiotics for ingrown toenail treatment, especially if the toe is infected or at risk of becoming infected. Take pain medicine if your toe hurts. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), including aspirin (such as Bayer), ibuprofen (such as Advil), or naproxen sodium (such as Aleve), might help your toe feel better.
For a recurrent ingrown toenail, your primary doctor or foot doctor may suggest removing a portion of your toenail along with the underlying tissue (nail bed) to prevent that part of your nail from growing back. This procedure can be done with a chemical, a laser or other methods.
Good luck. Remember it is not going to be as bad as you think it will be!IN grown toe nail ? hurts ..x ?
If your toe nail requires surgery you should be seeing a Podiatrist.
In the meantime keep the area clean and try to give it plenty of room in the shoe that you wear on that foot just to keep it comfortable.
I have performed many nail ablations under anaesthetic.
Sometimes the whole nail will be removed, but often it is only a partial removal. After the local your toe should be numb and you should feel slight pressure only as the nail is removed. You may have slight tenderness at the site for a few days.
You will be asked to return to the surgery about 3 days after treatment to check for any inflamation and a re-dressing, then again after about a week for another dressing.
The toe should be fully healed and free of pain by about 6 weeks after surgery
Cutting a V in the free edge of the nail does not work so don't bother with that idea.
See if you can be treated sooner at a Podiatric clinic instead of you local GP surgery.
Good luck, hope you can get quick treatment.
was it infected and they gave you meds for it? if they did next time they will proably cut the bed of the nail and they have to give you shots to help deaden it. it hurts that part really bad but when he doe sthe actually thing it does not. they won't just do corner. but you have to learn to take care of toes. you need to have this nail cut straight across and not curve by the sides or that will become ingrown some people have it worse then others. if you start getting one again you cut a V near the place where its starting to hurt. yes V small one not in the quick part and it will help relase some of the pain i know i have had this for years and not going to have nails removed.
mine was really bad %26amp; I had to get it surgically removed. the y won't rip the whole nail off unless it's like an inch deep which it's NOT. so, in my surgery they cut off the skin oon the side of my toe %26amp; burnt the root in the skin which made the nail grow in %26amp; cut it off. My toe was frozen from a needle during the whole procedure but mine was infected so it barely froze %26amp; it hurt like hell. get the surgery over with.
I had the same problem and had about three quarters of the toenail removed, in the surgery. I was fine after that, and I always cut my toenails straight across now, not trimming the corners, which caused the problem in the first place. A full toenail removal has to be done in hospital and I believe it is very painful, afterwards. I doubt that they will do that in your case.
If you cut a v in the middle of your toenail, by the time it grows back together it will pull the toenail out, for the future, so you don't have to go back to the Dr. because that hurts me, because they don't seem to have any mercy.
call them and ask. And if you get really scared remember that its for your health. Like when i was little i was afraid of shots, and my mom asked me ';Would you rather get a shot or die'; And guess what i said......SHOT!!! If i didnt take the shot i would have died! Well might have!
me too :(. they said all they can do it take it off, as cutting the corner will just make it grow back worse :S. but i dont want my toenail off, so im suffering with three of them :( (two big ones and one of the other ones)
they'll give you a shot.. or 2 or 3. Take some tylenol before and it wont be so bad. Then they'll take the ingrown part out and give you some medicine and tell you how to clean it as it heals.
soak it and then clip it but soak it in hot hot water and only clip it in the corner where it hurts or go to the doctor. good luck!!!!
Ouch
I had this problem too.
They will probably just cut the corner.
Also while your waiting for 3 weeks bathe your foot in hot salted water to clear any infection that may be in there.
I had one once what they do is cut in to the corner and then pull it out it hurts pretty bad but it feels better when its gone
well my brother had an ingrown toenail, he had to get about 8 shots in his toe, and then they cut into his foot and cut it off.
Soak your feet in Epsom salts and warm water to help relieve the pain. Your doctor may want to cut the nail out.
awww poor you doesnt sound nice at all but dont think you will feel any pain but they will take it off so it grows new coz you will get the same problem if they leave it on. hope all goes well xxxxxxxxx
If it's really bad, they might have to surgically cut it out. They won't rip the nail.
i put it in warm water to soften the skin around the nail then cut the corner =)
most likely rip it off
just the corner
that usually depends on what they think is best for it.
I think that they dig it out.
ymmy
Oww. idk.

Is my toe nail ingrown? HELP?
For a few days my toe has been bothering me. It began when I had cut my toe nail to short on the left side. It was very painful, but the nail has grown back in and I have been soaking my feet and applying hydrogen peroxide and improvements seemed to have taken place. A skin flap emerged from side of toe, but fell off after a cleaning. Still tender. Is it ingrown???Is my toe nail ingrown? HELP?
it might be but i cant tell for sure just by looking at the picture..does it hurt if u push on it from the side? i had a really bad ingrown toenail when i was about 14 due to side effects from medication (weird huh?), and i had to get the side of my toe sliced off at hospital..i had a large lump on the side of my toe where the nail was nearly halfway from popping out the other side, hurt like hell..go see a doctor is all i can sayIs my toe nail ingrown? HELP?
if it was ingrown, the nail would be growing into the flesh, so some skin would be covering that corner of the nail. If it hurts frequently, and is posing a problem, then you should probably see the doctor because it could be something else
i cannot tell if it is ingrown immediatley but go to your doctor as soon as possible they could have to do surgery. i have had it done before. btw nice pic lol hahahaha
yepppp, sry to say, but i had one too, it hurt like crap. I had to go to a foot surgeon and get surgery on my foot, lol good luck!
YOU HAVE PALE FEET :(
mine are so tan :]
go to a foot doctor, you can't know for sure no matter what people answer.

Why do you bite your finger and toe nails?
maybe like chewing your skin, why cant we just chew sugar free gum?Why do you bite your finger and toe nails?
It's a habit. As smoking, drinking, or chewing gum. It's not really a good habit and is usually caused by nervousness or is substituting anouther habit. Why do you bite your finger and toe nails?
lol u r right but i dont think we bite our toe nails...
i bite it when i'm nervous
nope neither, but i use to bite my fingernails a while ago. There is this stuff you can get you apply it to your nails and you wont like the taste. I'm not sure if it's over the counter, but i've heard it works. Also you can get sick from that especially if you don't wash your hands, you have no idea what kind of dirty, germs live under your nails.
I heard finger nails but not toe nail eww.anyone who bit the nails has bad nerves that why is so addicting. You have bad nerves hun sorry.
eww i dont bite either. especially my toe nails! gross bacteria
ew.

I heard its a suicidal act to hurt yourself and stuff- what was the word- i 4got but yeah.

How to get rid of the yellowness on my nails and toe nails?
does it happen because of nail polish? How to get rid of the yellowness on my nails and toe nails?
All you have to do is file it off with an emery board file...It should look white after, but that will fade in less than a week and you'll have normal looking nails. It is from polish, you will want to put a clear base coat on first to prevent it next time.
Bleach and toothpaste will not work...lol In fact, full strength bleach will destroy your nails and ruin your hands. How to get rid of the yellowness on my nails and toe nails?
If you paint them alot and its in a dark color then yes probably. I use a buffer its like a nail file with usually 4 sides to it. this smooths the nail and shins it. When painting your nails do a clear coat first. This helped my nails not yellow.
i've heard using whitening toothpaste can help take the yellowness off
yes and take it off with a VERY fine Emory board. be Gentle when you sand it away..don't rub hard.
nail polish stains i get it real bad =P
it will go away on its own soon and in future when painting your nails put a base coat down to protect them then the colour
get a tub and look warm water and a 2/3cups of bleach and leave your hands soak for about 20 mins that should do the trick

I NEED A CURE FOR AN IN GROWN TOE NAIL.HELP!?
Well if you can't go to the doctor then your best shot would be to use tweezers to pull the nail out of the skin, trim it a little, then squeeze the pus out of the toe and take something with paracetamol. This will hurt like **** so you might wanna take something to numb it. But the best thing to do would be to see a doctor, because this could go wrong.I NEED A CURE FOR AN IN GROWN TOE NAIL.HELP!?
