I believe I have fungus on my toe nail?HELP!!!!?

My fat toe has fungus (I believe) I don't go to the doctor because is too embarrasing. My toe nail grows a little bit but it grows as a thick nail and black I usually scrape off that nasty stuff that makes the nail dark and thick and put a fake nail over bacause I am too embarrase to show it.Does anyone know what I can do or buy to stop this. I am young and would like to go get a pedicure but I am too embarras to do that. Also my feet are really rough I put foot lotion on but it does not work.PLEASE SOMEBODY HELP ME WITH MY UGLY FEET!! THANKSI believe I have fungus on my toe nail?HELP!!!!?
alllright. 3 things.

1. what you have might not even be foot fungus. theres this thing (i forgot what its called) that happens to dark people where they get pigmentation from their skin in their nail. and thats not a fungus and its not wierd.

2. you might want to go to the doctor just to make sure. what would you rather be, embarrassed or have youre tonail eventually fall off??? besides doctors are used to seeing these kinds of things they're doctors!!!

3. soak your feet in warm soapy water for around 5 minutes, scrub them with a foot pumus while your feet are still in the water. then take them out wrap them in a towel and while they're still moist massage them with lotion. if your feet are still rough do it again the next day or the day afterwards. don't cut off the rough parts cause they'll only grow back thicker. the key is to work on them little by little. hope this helpsI believe I have fungus on my toe nail?HELP!!!!?
Nail fungus, is a condition that affects the nail of around 6% to 8% of the adult population. A change in color, thickening of the nail, becoming brittle, or rippled nail may be a sign of nail fungus. But it can be cured.

Unfortunately, most fungi that attack the nail are in fact attacking the nail bed under the nail. The only way to get to that is with oral medication. Embarassment or not, I suggest going to your doctor before your nails are permanantly damaged.
There are plenty of products at wal-mart that you can try to get rid of the fungus ,but even though your really embarrased would'nt you rather go to the doctor and get the problem taken care of instead of trying to cover it up with fake nails. And also it would be wise to go to the doctor before the infection spreads to your other toenails or fingernails.
Go to a Doctor ASAP! They see things like this all the time. If this is the most embarrasing thing you ever have had or will have to see a Doctor about you are lucky!

If you went to get a pedicure they would hopefully tell you to see a Doctor also. You need to take an oral med only given by persciption. I had a client with a fungus under her finger nail and was told if she waited any longer she could have lost the finger!
THERES ALOT OF DIFFRENT CREAMS YOU CAN GET GO TO WALMART OR A DRUG STORE AND LOOK AT THE FOOT STUFF AND GET THE BEST HING FOR YOU AND IF IT DOSENT HELP YOU MAY HAVE TO GO TO THE DOCTOR
get some medicine at the drug store.
Why feel embarassed? You didn't do anything wrong! Nail fungus doesn't come from being dirty, or anything. It comes from an injury to the toe, in which a commonly found fungus is able to make it's way underneath the nail, into the nail bed...and grow. Lots of people have it.

Don't waste your money on over the counter stuff. It won't work. You need to go and get Lamisil from your doctor, or anther medication of the same type. It is a pill, and it will take some time for it to work.

So, c'mon...suck it up....be a big girl...and realize that you've nothing to be ashamed of. Good luck! And, remember to do what your doctor tells ya!
Go to a Podiatrist. Don't be embarrassed, I'm sure they have seen worse. Over the counter products for fungus nails usually don't work. A foot doctor will clear it up much faster
Evelyn,

There are many ways to treat the infection. If as you say you are embarrased to show anyone your nails then try a home remedy.

Two of the most popular and that have a high success rate are

Vinegar

Tea Tree Oil

whichever method you choose - you have to stay the course, there is, unfortunately no quick fix - most sufferers start to show signs of recovery after a few weeks - think they have the condition under control and stop bothering with treatment.

Be prepared to treat everyday for at least 6 months
