What can I do to prevent ingrown toe nails?

KEEP YOU TOENAILS CUT, AND PACK A SMALL AMOUNT OF COTTON UNDER BOTH SIDES OF THE NAIL. THE COTTON LIFTS THE NAIL UP A WEE BIT AS IT GROWS AND KEEPS THE NAIL FROM GROWING INTO THE TOE, CAUSING THE ';INGROWN'; NAIL. IT TAKES AWHILE FOR THE NAILS TO GROW, BUT ONCE THEY HAVE GROWN UP AND OUT YOU WON'T NEED THE COTTON ANY MORE AND THE PROBLEM WILL GO AWAY.What can I do to prevent ingrown toe nails?
When i was younger i used to be plagued by the problem of ingrown toe nails.

they would hurt so bad and bleed occasionally.

it was pretty nasty.

i went to see a doctor and she rectified the problem, and from then on i learned the proper technique of trimming my toe nails.

never had a problem since then. What can I do to prevent ingrown toe nails?
Go to a podiatrist to get your nails cut to be sure you are cutting them the right way. Avoid shoes that are tight in that area. Good luck!
Make sure you cut your big toe nails straight and not in a circle as you would in any other toes.
Cut your nails often. If you have dicomfort in your toe, lift up the nail a tad bit, and cut off a small amount. If you do get a ingrown toenail, see a doctor ASAP and they will fix it.
