If it is swollen like that and it has been for months, you need to see a doctor before you end up losing the toe or a portion of your foot. It could well be infected. I don't know why you can't go to the doctor but if necessary, find a free clinic or go to a nurse practitioner. You can't fix this yourself and trust me, you do not want to risk getting blood poisoning as that kills!

Personally, I am having my big toe nail permanently removed on Tuesday by a surgeon as I had a chronic problem with ingrown toenails. I know how unpleasant it can be. Please don't neglect this. Good luck!Ingrown toe nail help! please?
there are a few things you can do.

First, take an eye dropper and put some hydrogen peroxide on the area where its swollen. Try and lift the toenail up so you can access the infected area. Wait for it to bubble. This is a sign that bacteria are being killed.

Next, take a SMALL piece of a cotton swab, soak it in antiseptic solution (i.e. bactine) and put it between your toenail and the skin on the side that is infected. Change the cotton wool twice a day. You should see an improvement within a few days.

If all else fails, you will need to see a doctor. They can fix it quite easily. If your case is a really bad case, they may refer you to a podiatrist (foot specialist)
For ingrown toenails you have to make sure to always cut your toenails straight across not round. By cutting the toenail round you are encouraging the nail to grow into your toe. You should try to cut a ';v'; into the centre tip of your toenail and that will give your nail some space to change shape and hopefully grow properly again.
ok use an eye droper and put hydrogen peroxide on it and it should bubble.that means the dirt and infection is being desolved.i no it kinda sounds grouse but it helps!!!
