Ok...a very heavy object fell on my bare foot and severed my big toe. The doctor removed the little piece of nail that was still attached before stitching the gash. Once the wound heals, how long until the nail grows back? Also, in great pain now, will it hurt for the whole time it's growing back too?Hurt my toe...nail removed help plz?
Hey,
I just had my toenail removed because I had a tumor in my big toe.[a month ago] I can honestly say, it hurts like HECK, but a little tylenol or advil will help ease the pain. My nail came out a month ago, so I can't make any promises, It usually takes about one year for it to grow back fully, but you can get a nail replacement, that will help, protecting it, but remember, you have to wait until it heals. Mine still hurts at times, and I underwent surgery, so I suggest that you keep it clean, take meds for the pain and then when it's fully healed which will be in about a month or 2, get a nail replacement [any local pharmacy- cost, maybe $5-7.]so that your toe will be protected.Hurt my toe...nail removed help plz?
A nail will take one year to grow back
You have to be patient : at first, the nail will be soft as skin and not strong for your protection (shoes, socks,...)
When the wound is settled, you can buy protections for your toe -while you do not have any nail- at the drugstore.
It comes in like a soft material in a tube shape that you can cut with sciccors at the right dimension.
But, it will definitely grow back !
i haven't lost my toenail but i slamed my hand in the car door and they removed me index fingers nail and it took 3 months to grow back...estimate:3-6 months
Several years ago I had my whole big toenail removed. It took about a year for it to grow back completely, and no it did not hurt while growing back.
